The Open House Exhibition aims to open the doors of notable houses and buildings and in this case to reveal the intimacy of the Ambassador's Residence in London, located at 49 Belgrave Square.
Designed by Thomas Cubbit (1788-1855), the official Residence was acquired by Argentina in 1936. Since its acquisition, the imposing building, much more than a house with official functions, the Residence has been and continues to be an authentic place of meeting and cultural exchange.
The 2013 edition of the Open House showcased pieces of ancient and contemporary Argentinean textile art. Ricardo Paz selected woven rugs and tapestries from Santiago del Estero and the award-winning artists Chiachio and Gianonne exhibited some of their tapestries. For the design of this catalogue, at the initiative of the Argentine Ambassador, the British artist Lucy Dalzell made the illustration of the cover in which you can see the façade of the Residence and discover some outstanding personalities of the Argentine and British work.
